The Smell of Home
We’d come back from the airport
And as she walked through the door, she inhaled deeply
Then she took a few breaths more
With a sparkle in her eye, she turned around and smiled
“Oh, Mama…this is what we smell like!”
I looked at her in confusion
Daddy didn’t know what to say
She just twirled around and said,
“This is the smell of home.”
