The Small Stream

Traveling the small stream
And not the river wide
In the flat bottom boat
With a paddle and guide

The wide streams all flow
To cities of delight
Where lazy is the day
And wild the dark, dark night

All the narrow streams lead
To a quiet small village
Where church's steeple high
Instills lasting image

How well I remember
That small flat bottom boat
As the guide propelled it
To the rhythm of notes

Clear tones from the church's bells
Ringing out those old hymns
Oh, that Guide leading men
Christian come home to Him
