The Quill Swillers Club

THE QUILL SWILLERS CLUB connections and perceptions started in July 2008 a typical day of apathy where the temptation was to hibernate relaxing with local newspaper browsing lazily at leisure an advert caught my eye with a treasure my long awaited calling for all writers & poets amateurs would be fine as this had always been a passion of mine circled the advert with a red pen-- promising myself to make the call lack of confidence creeping back—my downfall the thought played out in my mind all night meeting sounded focal and right dialing the number wondering if I qualified expectant voice answered enthusiastic to clarify encouragement and perception I had finally found a writing connection our first monthly meeting felt quite daunting more like required performing no topic was set, we could choose our own merely a minor ‘synopsis’ would be helpful to connect and set the tone breaking tensions of stereopsis a day marking the start of reasons to write with purpose constructive criticism helping our first tentative efforts spanning past four years romance novels, short stories dealing with poems personal introspective topics pent up emotions and tears I have always maintained to be creative and hazy one has to be sufficiently crazy with every written piece our quills have penned we have started that trend lunch meetings progressed to swilling and fun our inhibitions far flung so to all of us writers who get lost in our words once our writing has begun we need to remind ourselves each effort is never lost but viewed as having won narrations…creations that course through our brain a written legacy will remain Copyright© August 2013—Kim van Breda

Hi, homey. This sounds like a fun club. By the sounds of it you're having a good time with like-minded people. I'll have to start looking around for a club in Cape Town. Lovely writing, my friend. Licia :-)

Nice. I need a club like that. Drinks always loosen the mind and the tongue. People are people and that's what makes it fun. Love it Kilmer

Thanks Drake... always appreciate your professional input. Yip... this is our writers group. We have some really quirky personality types, and yes, we do tend to have lunch where we swill away, talking about our quilling with a good glass of wine. That's a thought.. a movie:) I think we all have enough personal ammunition for a thriller !

What a story. This sounds like a great foundation for a short movie. Such great messages here, Kim! =)
