The Peacock and the Duck

The peacock and the duck are long-time friends. The peacock stays inside a zoo while the duck stays very close to the zoo. The duck is owned by the caretaker of the zoo whose small house is almost attached to one side of the zoo's perimeter fence. The peacock was formerly owned by the caretaker of the zoo. The peacock though, when it grew bigger and more beautiful than the duck, was sold to the owner-operator of the zoo. And so the duck stayed with the caretaker in recent years. Many years the peacock and the duck shared so many things since they were young. The peacock is, as always, given special attention by their master being the prettier and more marketable of the two in almost everything. The duck was never jealous of the peacock, being her best friend. One day inside the zoo while the duck is watching the peacock, the peacock said, "Don't stay too far from me so we can see each other all the time!" The duck exclaimed, "Visitors of the zoo are throwing stones at me. I will just stay near the fence. Don't worry, I'll be watching you all day!" Later that day, they stood together on the side of the zoo fence, very close to the caretaker's small house. The peacock shared her food to the duck and the duck was very thankful to her friend. The duck said, "Thank you for feeding me everyday. My master does not feed me everyday. It is always you sharing something with me. How can I ever repay you?" The peacock replied, "I'm not expecting anything in return. You already saved my life once, remember?!... Now, I am returning your kindness." "I'm not expecting anything in return either. You're my best friend!" "Thank you," said the peacock. A very dark morn the following day, while the caretaker was asleep, the duck heard the peacock squealing and so the duck went to the open to check what's going on inside the zoo. The duck saw the peacock being tied up by three men, trying to abduct her. The duck called the other ducks for help. All ducks were quacking. The loud noise of the ducks awakened the caretaker... rose and alarmed the zoo to drive away the burglars trying to abduct the peacock. The three burglars suddenly disappeared in the dark and the peacock was saved. The peacock said to the duck, "You saved my life again!" The duck was relieved saying, "I am not as beautiful as you, but you will always have a beautiful friend in me no matter how ugly I look to everybody."
