The Narrow View

The world is flat I know tis true, For from my window I have a view. And what more could I want to see, Beyond the yard in front of me? There is no need to the left to look, No need to view a babbling brook. Why would I ever turn to the right, And bring a garden into my sight? No, the view I have is all I need, I don’t care how much you beg and plead. All I need is as I’ve said, Is to view my world straight ahead. Then all I see will comfort me, And I’ll never view it disappointedly.

Tony, thanks for reading and commenting on my poem "Nude Beach Ahead." Reading this one of yours reaffirms that I, as I walked on that beach, wanted that "Narrow View." I'm not always that "narrow minded", but, yes, most of the time....for sure. I enjoy your poetry. Barb PS, I just haven't felt that poetic lately. It's something I just can't force. I want to write, but can't get inspired. Maybe I need to just "look out my window" like you do.

I like your poem and enjoyed reading it, but I am the opposite - I like to turn and see what is different and new. I like to go to new places. Someone once said that if a person does not travel, he only reads one page of life.

Hi Tony...my husband & I are a lot like this! Satisfied with our immediate surroundings & not straying out much to get different views. Upbeat rhyme and lighthearted! Gwendolen!

very interesting viewpoint! it intrigues me why some people are totally content in their own environment while others feel the need to travel or move around. you've made it very clear which is your preference and i like the way you've explained it!
