The Lost Sound
Why oh why should I have this woe
of this my birth tongue and it’s style,
the old days have gone
like a long lost song,
minds of a past nursed in thought.
As I sit with my truth
to the days gone by
I heed the sound of that, which is past
my gran, my mum, my dad
the folk from this dale God did bless.
Yet now it is the start to the new day
but the same where one does roam,
the tongue in tone blends all
no clue to whence one came,
as speech has lost its trait!
