The Judge Came Down

You committed great sin, Of that there's no doubt. The witnesses saw it, You had been found out. In the dock you are led, The charges were read. The jury cried death, You must pay with your life. The Judge is your father, He looks down at his son, The jury says death and that is due, He looks at his son and knows what to do. He took off his robes, Laid his gavel aside, Stepped into the dock, With a loud voice he cried. I love this man, he is my only son, I am the judge, let justice be done. It is only grace that will save the day, I'll die in his place, let him walk away. God is the Judge and by His grace, Jesus came down and died in our place, Never believe that His death was a loss, For we were redeemed, by that death on a cross. © Dave Timperley 2012
