The Everyday Special of the House
The Every Day Special of the House
By Elton Camp
In many families it is on the bill of fare
The parents know too well it’s there
For the dish nearly drives them wild
The one served by an ungrateful child
Because it will always include
A generous portion of attitude
Smothered with dirty looks galore
Of eye rolling there’s very much more
Then there’s sarcasm served as dessert
It matters not how the cruel words hurt
An offspring to parents surely does owe
At bare minimum of appreciation to show
How wrong to take what they provide
Then repay with cruel remarks so snide
For all they suggest show vile contempt
As if from common courtesy exempt
After the parents have passed away
It’ll be too late any kinds words to say
