the bracelet

She felt lazy; or perhaps just tired
as the rain fell, beating softy
on the window pane

the low lamp gave off a soft
but sombre glow and reflected
a quiet glint of history off
the delicate trinket bracelet
that harboured her soft ageing wrist

memories were stirred
and as she gently pulled the blanket
closer about herself
she reflected on that time
that place, that she could barely remember

but she understood that the passion
and the static that she had felt then
was still there somewhere

and as she leaned to turn off the lamp
she smiled as she heard his safe
sleeping presence.
