The Box of Pine
The Box of Pine

Here we are, once again
Lying there, my dear old friend
Rivers of tears flowing down my face
My manner lacking in style and grace
I speak, but you don’t listen
I see, but your eyes don’t glisten
My soul is covered by a cloak of fear
So close, but you are nowhere near
One last time, I hold your hand tight
I remember our smiles, as well as our fights
I remember swing sets that should have failed
Through hopeless times, you were the wind in my sails
There are promises now, forever un-kept
The final solution has now been set
This box of pine forever holds your heart
Little did I know, you’d rip mine apart
A wave of Insanity, one last Hail Mary
One final desperate plea, so arbitrary
I scream TAKE ME WITH YOU PLEASE!
THIS WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME TO ME!
For the first time ever, you don’t respond
Your soul is seems, will never re-spawn
I fall to my knees as my legs shake and fail
The wind you gave me has finally left my sails
So I wander the world, desperate and alone
You’ll never know how bright your light had shown
You ask for a special moment, well we had many
A million times over were you the best friend to me
There were no promises we wouldn’t drift apart
But the times we spent were surely a good start
In the end all you have are the memories you make
And that’s something that no one can ever take
A tattoo that fades, are like the memories you donate
But they will never evaporate or dissipate
While my memories fade, the pain never mends
We take those scars with us ‘til the end
Rest well my friend, for insomnia is at an end
You say you meant nothing, but my tears contend
But I decide to smile, and not to cry
‘Cause I remember, that “Soul mates never die”
This isn’t goodbye, ‘cause I’ll see you again
In a place where we no longer have to pretend
Where we share bright eyes and wide smiles
A place where you decline to leave, and stay awhile
And for a moment...For just a single, fleeting moment...I am happy
