succumbing to death his eyes shine as he whispers . . . I am not afraid

A fleeting moment poignantly captured. I'm curious as to whether he literally said "I am not afraid" or was it his shining eyes that gave off the impression?

He literally said it, Timothy. I was inspired by a movie I saw!

This is an interesting 'aha' moment because it is our interpretation of what 'his eyes shine' means, our own faith really that makes it an 'aha' moment, our hope really that as he died he was connecting with something that we all hope exists. The reality could have been much different, but we will never know will we?
