That Place

That place between sleep and waking A time when you remember your dreams; Sometimes the vision clears only When our eyes are washed with tears. There are times when a heart is aching For love is not all that it seems; Sometimes it gifts you with feeling lonely And so many unknown fears To leave a heart close to breaking. So many in life are there to hurt you Can we know if they are worth the pain Or do we allow the fetters and chain? There's so much to say when I look in your eyes There's so much to feel when the spirit dies; Each day I love you more but you'll never know For there's so much in my heart I can't show. I'd hold you forever if you'd only let me But I know dear, you will forget me; So I dream of us together and how it could be For all you are will stay a secret part of me.

Again, you investigate the intermingling of love and regret with love in this display of powerful and deeply felt emotions. So well conceived and articulated.

This is so beautiful and I'm sure many have gone through this very thing before. There is one love we never forget. Our first true love. Even if we don't mention it, we never forget it. We wonder from time to time how that person is and what he/she is doing. Great job here. God Bless, JB

How sweetly you've captured that in between state of mind so early in the morning between dreaming and awakening. Its a lovely time and gives us so much to think about, especially when the dreams are of those we love or once loved. Thanks for another poetic piece of magic and You've got SOUP MAIL!

In secret silence, we live our lives. Dark passions steer our lonely drives. The answers come with morning light. When pretending lovers wake to fight. The endless dream of love forlorn. And concede to life, why we were born.

To the inventor of such tear-jerker love story, you are the best describing ones emotion and heart dealing with that proper place, a dream to love and cherish one beyond the harshness of reality! A beautiful gem Lizz! So glad I checked my soupmail. I toast my poem to you "To Her, With Love"

hello Elizabeth... such is the story of love for a person when that person only loves the love that is given from the giver of said love and not really the person. An interesting phenomenom. Thank you for your comments on my poems. I have just returned from a trip and this is the first time I have been on the soup for a spell. thank you again, Elizabeth
