'that Familiar Smile'

There I was standing, deep in thought You never crossed my mind, Until you appeared out of nowhere No warning, just with that familiar smile, Like you've been there all along Waiting for me to look up I was taken by surprise The impact you had, The impact you still have On my mood, My emotions Thought I was immune to your powers Guess that was only just a dream You are back and so is that smile The one thing I spend many nights trying To forget, Just like that, it is all back To mess with my pretty little head

Yet, based on a few of the lines, I wonder how truly missed is that "familiar" smile? Sometimes, a surfaced smile is the only real thing about them. Once they speak, it's all downhill. I've done away with those familiar smiles myself a long time ago. Excellent!

O I don't know whether to congratulate you or to feel for you, my guess is to feel for you just by the line, "The one thing I spent many nights trying to forget, " that line sounds like you don't want him there! You have presented this poem quite powerfully this morning! I always enjoy reading your poetry every time your post one Wilma! What a tremendous piece, Great work!!
