Tell Me Not

Tell me not what the good book says, And point not at my evil ways. I know your deeds, I know your type, So play not my ways upon your pipe. The holy book from which you quote Says something you’d like to note; “Judge not, and save yourself judgment” Else you get the punishment Of Jah’s eternal resentment. What? Do you mean You know not sin? From your first, down to this day, You never strayed off the Lord’s way? Never wronged in though, word, or deed? Never once felt the urgent need To free yourself of seed? Never combed the beach, Called a girl a peach, And fail the lord in speech? Remember that one time When to yourself you’d mime As brought to you the eventide, Her pleasant back, her softer side. Now you tell me for a fact, That night, did you do the act? You say just in your mind? It’s still a sin, you’d find! Your chest is hard from lying, And I don’t see the habit dying. When last did you swallow meat, Steaming hot chunks of meat, Till sweat oozed from both your feet? Mother’s purse is always full, How much was gone each day ‘fore school? We both know the test was tough, The questions tricked, the setting rough. Tell me now you stole not a peep While yet the prof was deep in sleep. So you never stole a smoke Till someone heard you choke? Now that you see you’re just as bad as me, Let’s let the index fingers rest, shall we?

hahahahahah, comon Karl, you have a way with words in this great write on Judge-not. i love the assonance and musical tone in the poem, i understand that the poet is telling his 'judge' to stop judging him and calling him evil and unholy, since the bible says none should jugde but God. you ask the guy questions inasmuch as his own fallibility is concerned. hahah; it is a very humorous poem, but one whose lines are good for thoughts and considerations.
