Teenage Minds
When we are young we just need
a dry diaper; to suckle a full breast
when we long for more
when we need to crawl and explore
we grab hold of the object
to stand and we fall but we strive for more
We walk we run we fall we cry
we grab hold of the object
and we strive to do more
school, sports, church
we grow more and more
We think for ourselves
we rebel, we reject, we recant
we no longer grab hold of the object
we now push away from it
We are smarter, faster
we do not need to grab hold
of the object
We hate the object
we detest it
Goodbye mom and dad ...
