Sun of My Son

I see in your precious smile An endless road, Perhaps infinite, With a wide eyed innocence That journey’s beyond What sight can see. Contentment fills your face As vivid as a rainbow’s arc Through fine mist Ever hinting of a loftier place-- A sacred place that dwells within. My gaze falls upon a mature soul Still nurtured in the bud of youth, Who retains a wisdom of many lifetimes. Your gentle guidance inspires your Parents to reach for the unattainable. I remain awestruck By your radiating aura As it intermingles with mine, Leaving me exalted in knowing You are a gift divine. *Dedicated to my two year old Grandson Brody

This is truly awesome Connie. It speaks of the love of a mother for her child and all the hope and beauty she sees in him. Before you have children you don't really think about the important aspects of life but once you hold that little bundle for the first time you want to be all that you can be for him or her. Great stuff. God Bless, JB

What a lovely deication to your grandson, Connie. It's so nice to read your work again. I am among those who believe we learn and grow through many incarnations. Those whose growth is nearly complete are often referred to as "old souls." Having such a precious grandson must give you much comfort. Love and blessings, Carolyn

Wow, Connie! What a wonderful dedication to your grandson...got me a little misty-eyed there! Every line is a true gem. As grandparents, our job is to spoil them rotten and then promptly send them home to their parents when they get too rowdy...we got it made don't we? As always, thanks for your very kind comments and support - Tim

Connie-This is so fantastic-love "still nutured in the bud of youth"! Love the title too :) I've always said I'd have kids if I could skip right to the grandkids! I've heard that when it's fun :)

It is....you get to do all the fun things with them and you don't have to be the bad guy. You can spoil them with gifts and your children can't complain because they know you won't be around forever. It is the best of times. Mahalo for your comment.

Can't believe you're old enough to have a grandson but since you do, this is one he will appreciate when he gets older. The little ones have so many challenges today Connie, sounds like you treasure the little guy! :)

A great free verse tribute to your grandson with lots of well penned emotion. I like the line 'As vivid as a rainbow's arc', a very unique way of framing it. Thanks for sharing!
