Stars In the Night

You said never And It was my own fault You wouldn't trust me How many times had we had that talk Yelling at each other Fighting at night Fighting for each other Does it matter who was right I said never And it was another's fault I wouldn't trust you Another had broken my heart Clenching our fists Straining not to hit the walls Breaking through barriers Clenching our jaws You swore I wouldn't get in I couldn't touch your heart You looked into my eyes Forgetting one essential part You fell with a kiss And when my tears first fell When I opened your first And your fears first spilled I looked into your eyes Seeing what was hidden in the dark The remainder of a flame Beating in your heart I'll cradle it's warmth Till the embers glow bright And your love burns Like the stars in the night

I love it when you express your gentle side Jay - funny though, when I absorb the sense of your compassion it tends to be accompanied by the close breath of volatile demand - its a beautiful contrast & wonderment - I wonder how possessive you'd be with such a fragile treasure -surviving fights with you could be so rewarding - I like how the tension is converted to caring - a lovely write - J.A.B. %
