Smiles
Smiles
My child’s round smiles
are all it takes
to make my ruffled brows
rise through the clouds,
in the intersection between
work and breaks,
she rolls on with dinner squeaks
and I just sink my feet , she tickles them
as though they need to smile
after all, I haven’t done so
since I opened the morning door to rush ,
to meet a maddening crowd.
