Sleeptalker
things done in the day
that s/he doesn’t want him/her to know
come out at night
when s/he sleeptalks &
upon waking,
s/he worries
that something might’ve come out,
that these secrets, that these longings,
that all these fantasies
which stir throughout the day
might make themselves known
aloud &
that the person sleeping next to him/her
might hear them,
that they might remember them until morning,
that they might offend, terrify, make
them jealous, or
perhaps
make it so bad for them that
leaving the bed, the apartment, the house,
before sunrise,
suddenly sounds like the best option.
