Sandman's Con Game

The mischievous Sandman runs a con game each night After all the youngsters are safely tucked away He dances into my room like an elfin sprite He seizes my hand, tries to lure me outside to play Then he’s bored on my shoulder at the computer Threatens to throw pixie dust into sleepy eyes Quells my muse like a discourteous intruder I’ve attempted to handle him with a compromise Just let my muse roam free for a couple of hours For at this time of night, fantasies flow smoothly But he feels the need to boast of superpowers And when I ask for time, he glares gloomily It’s three in the morning and I should be asleep This nightly visitor has grown to be a pest Distaste continues to grow for this pesky creep And the sandman scowls when I say, “Give it a rest!” *Entry for Deb’s Fantasy Land Contest April 29, 2011

Perhaps a pest, Carolyn, but definitely one who enjoys your company! I think my muse snuck up to post a sign, "poetically indisposed".:) The sandman loves these notices.:( An inspirational write, Carolyn! Stay happy and keep well!! Mikki

got me chuckling Carolyn. Alot of truth to this fantasy! Congratulations on your HM. A plight well described. Love the irony of telling the sandman to give it a rest. :)

I'd like to pick a fight with that danged sandman. He gets "frequent flyer" miles when he visits my house. Almost every night. Usually when I really need sleep most. Good luck in the contest! Best to you, Diane

yes, that is why I said I liked that food until what happened at the end. haha. too bad it has to often come to that. the stuff is so darn good. So I see there is this new fantasty contest that I totally did not see when I looked over there a little while ago. Way to go with this one on the mishievous sandman. I hope I can come up with something so quickly!
