Reflection By the Sea

Crashing waves of change And lives of swirling tides People who take hasty strides As they march outside their minds They walk in their reflections In the soaked sea sand They trample their afflictions Into the crushed shell land Their horizon only ever one step away And not basking on the ocean’s edge Where their world And their footprints Have fallen off the watery ledge Where breath bursts like bubbles Strewn onto the shore Where swells of the same swallow and spit out Choices made before And herald in the morning sun The emptiness Of all days done
