Reaching the Final Bell
Trying real hard to be silly again
Gonna give it another try
What do they call a guy named Jack
A guy with love in his eye
See it didn't work, tried really hard
Love of life is what it is
At my advanced age, one appreciates
The joys that life has to give
No matter where happiness comes from
It's forever on display
Could be a cashier at the local market
Wishing you have good day
Maybe a simple kiss and a hug
When friends come over to visit
Or a kiss from a little wee grandchild
Incomparable, so exquisite
Perhaps now you'll finally understand
What I'm trying real hard to say
It's those sweet adorable moments in life
That occur every single day
Those moments, those special moments
They sometimes whiz right by
Before you realize, HEY! That was one
Damn well failed to recognize
Certainly no crime, certainly no foul
A similar tale we all tell
With human frailties we stumble along
Till we reach that final bell!
