Pups For Sale

Pups For Sale

There were ten of us to start
All cramped in this box,
With a sign that read: PURE HEART
PUPS FOR SALE-- WHITE SOX!!

They all had white sox, but me.
I was solid blue...
Outcast from the start--you see,
No sox-- just won't do!

Everyone got homes today!
Everyone...but me.
They left me and they didn't say
They'd be back for me.

In this box now on the ground,
Not much I can see.
But I hear a rumble sound--
LIGHT'NING HIT A TREE!

I'm so wet from all the rain.
I'm so scared and cold.
It's dark and no one came
I've no one to hold.

I'm shivering in the dark...
Hungry and alone...
Can you hear my little bark?
Someone? Take me home.

It breaks my heart to read the intense emotions of this "unwanted" puppy...awwww, I'll take him! lol Deb, your approach to the contest theme is superb as you touched on all the senses and emotions. The ending was so tempting too as I got the sense this could almost be a wanted ad from a puppy for an owner! A hearty congratulations! gwendolen
