Poetry For All
Poetry for all
“What are you writing” she said with glee
“Oh some lines, some new poetry”
“Not that drivel, it will get you nowhere”
I glance back silently with a knowing glare,
“What of your heart” I asked of her,
She did not respond, not even a stir.
“Oh sad is this day” Started to say,
You will read poetry today.
Puzzled the look expressed by face,
You will read poetry today with god’s grace,
“God she scorned,” what to do with it”
“Poetry you mean” ”yes that waffle that ****!
I smiled that smile which fills my day
Open the door and listen, you will see,
The birds are singing their poetry.
All around complete and abound
Poetry lifts my heart its glory to be
In touch with this sense called poetry.
The song of a bird, the rustle of leaves,
That note pounding as a vee twin does roar
Crashing waves as the sea meets the shore,
A smile on a child’s face and that giggle with pride
The silence of love as she lay’s by my side,
A hum of a bee working happily
The wag of excitement from your best friend to me.
Shall I go on its plain to see our lives are full of poetry?
So open have an open heart listen, and see,
It’s a gift to life this word poetry.
