Pearls

The pearl of my eye was once a grain of sand Whose beauty and luster was lost on every man But the oyster that is life, steeped in mystery Transformed her into a jewel, perfect just for me Every grain of sand, amongst the multitudes Can become a pearl – there is one out there for you So don’t underestimate each grain upon the beach She might be your pearl who the oyster has not yet reached And women out there who think that they’ve been overlooked A lifetime of sand my not be the ending of your book The pearl that takes longest to finally mineralize Is the pearl that shines brightest in many a man’s eyes written and posted on 3/21/13 for The Pearl contest
