Out of the Shadows
He rides out of the shadows
On a steed of snowy white
Leaving the darkness behind him
Coming into day out of the night
After facing the devil eye to eye
Determined never again to sink so low
Ready to rejoin his family
Knowing one day at a time is the way to go
He rides out of the shadows
Leaving a shattered past in his wake
The pain of alcohol behind him
A misstep never again can he take
It’s a battle he must fight every day
Knowing the shadow remains nearby
But in order to save his loved ones
It is a journey he must survive
He rides out of the shadows
Thanks to those who have been there before
Their perseverance and understanding
Has helped him to win this war
