One With Nature
I’ve been completely thrilled with Nature
Since on that North Dakota farm
I ran barefoot through the grasses
Without a thought of meeting harm.
My dear daddy was a farmer
And I have been a farmer’s wife.
Yes, I have been thrilled with Nature
Through the whole of my long life.
Gardening is my great pleasure
Where I spend many happy hours
Consorting with Mother Nature
While caring for my pretty flowers.
Cities are all right to visit
In their quaint unnatural ways.
But I’m glad to leave them after
Just one or two exploring days.
It is not far to the mountains
Or a Pacific Ocean beach
From my home here in the valley.
Nature’s joys are within reach.
