One Was Two

Away for the weekend
With friends, for a chance
To relax, recover,
Maybe to dance.

Sitting in the hotel lounge
Observing all I could
Saw a couple obviously not married
Trying to act as they should.

Felt like saying, go on hold hands
Look into each others eyes
Whisper sweet nothings
But tell no lies.

Wish i had a someone
To be close too
Wouldn't care a damn
Well, would you?

Instead will go sightseeing
Some retail therapy too
Drinks in the evening
Still wishing one was two.

I'm still reading, still observing, here in the shadows at times. I also know this all too well. I am starting to see your diversity. You enter many contest, maybe to try new forms, maybe to show support, but you are versatile in your writing. Nice poem.

yes I enter contests mainly to try different forms, and out of politeness to the person who has organised it.

I understand this all too well. "Whisper sweet nothings, but tell no lies": A vital line. Nice job!
