Once Upon a Pond

Floating, once upon a pond He caught a fish by light of dawn A fish so big he gasped in awe. As he gazed into her gaping maw But he saw by her belly, she was yet to spawn So he threw her back in, and told her "be gone"

Short and sweet in the descriptive department with some good rhyming included. This tells a good story.

Well Joe, you're reeling in more than just fish, this is a wonderful write!:) Might "be gone", but her offspring will make your fishing more productive. Makes me think of the story about the fisherman and his wife. Out of kindness he let it go, then he was rewarded...too bad his wife had been such a greedy gut.:( You've captured a beautiful moment within this verse! Best to you...Love, Mikki
