Old Sins Cast Long Shadows
I really thought I’d put the past behind me
I’ve tried to make amends so many times
but no it’s not enough. Oh what more can I do.
It is so true what they say ‘Old sins cast long shadows’.
I sit here in despair as the darkness closes in
Is there no relief? Yes, I know I sinned
but then I was young and carefree
I never thought at all of the consequences
Now in my old age and nearing my time on earth
I can feel nothing but a deep sorrow
and I’ve added another terror to death
Oh Gods above, what if the grave is unquiet?
