Ode To Autumn

Autumn is my favorite season,
The green leaves are turning red,
Falling with no rhyme or reason,
They are crisp, gnarled, and dead.

Lightly they fall in the chilly air,
The leaves are brown, orange, and yellow,
Brightly, they tumble without a care,
Indian summer days are beginning to mellow.

Gray clouds form, you rarely see the sun,
Through tree branches, see the cold wind blow,
The leaves come cascading down, one by one,
And, at any minute now, it could start to snow.

Hi Kelly, an ode to Autumn. Isn't it strange my friend, the amount of people who ashked which season they prefer will sday Autumn. I think it can be the Autumnal colours that do it. Well, that's what it is for me I think. Once more your gentle words paint the Autumn scene, we can see the smallest leave fall. The flow is always wonderful, each picture follows on from the one before, painting such a wonderful canvas. I see the colours, I feel the chill, I await the snow. Autumnal glory....MIKE.

Hi Mike, I agree, autumn does seem to have a mysteriousness about it, which is very intriguing. I love fall for it's amazing colors. I think that I look forward to this season most, because it brings a relief from the heat of summer, which I am not so fond of. I enjoy the cool, crisp air of autumn, it makes me feel refreshed and alive again...Thank you for the kind comments. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this poem, my friend.
