Not There Before

You saved them then But fell again The circle’s in the sky Divided fence And happenstance Don’t care if it’s a lie Tomorrow’s day Fades into grey And blue melts into black As silent sounds And crushing pounds Creep in for the attack An empty stage And crumpled page Bleed deep into your brain Don’t ever sleep Don’t ever weep Don’t ever feel the pain The same old room Familiar gloom The same old window’s stare As tears rain down Disfigured clown Why should you even care But something now Not there before Won’t let you go away A million voices Fill the air A million voices pray …Jeff Bresee
