Not So High

I choose a side
Stand firm on what I believe
Proclaim unafraid
Not an attack
Rather an invitation

I can still love you
See you
The fence is not so high
I reach my hands over
Embrace you

For we are the same
We have our limitations
Answers to questions yet to come
Tears yet to be shed
Yet there are some things I have learned
Things I wish to share
Because I care
For I know what I know

I have been freed from my mind
By one who is kind
The designer of me
The one in whom I believe
A gift I chose to receive

Not a product I wish you to try
There is nothing to buy
The fence has a gate
If you have breath it's not too late
This is a place of rest
Not some difficult test
Please come sit with me
In a land that is free

Sometimes I feel the same way. Poetry goes a long way to help relax me. Both reading and writing.

"Not an attack, but rather an invitation"... I really like that, Rick... I like that a lot. There are too many people out there that feel like they have to attack you, grab your shoulders, and FORCE you to believe what they do. That method never works... in fact it just drives them further away. You have to come on your own choice... and if you are to come to Him by force you're going for the wrong reasons. I enjoyed the warm welcoming feel of this poem.

I have been in a room with someone trying to convert someone and it was vey uncomfortable. I can only share my own experience and explain how God has influenced my life. I don't think presure or fear works. I think love respect and gentleness is more appealing.

what a peaceful and inspiring poem this is. I like how you made it sound so easy. To come to this free land by simply opening the gate!! So nice, Richard. Great title for it too.
