Nature's Lovely Visions

I have trekked across glaciers beneath high Sierra peaks.
Taken cover in blazing torrents on the rim of the Grand Canyon.
Picnicked under giant red woods, where trees last centuries.
Camped on sheltered islands removed from the coast.
Dove into kelp forests of the brisk Pacific Ocean.

Gawked at grand herds of bison in Yellowstone’s valleys.
Kayaked bays, arms length from inquisitive dolphins.
Viewed bald eagles plying the waters of azure, clear lakes.
Angled pristine rivers in the footprint of the Tetons.
Shuttered in reverence at the base of Zion’s pale cliffs.

The memories of these visions I will never disown.
None of them compare to the smiles of the women I’ve known.
