My Treasure Chest
Music fills my treasure chest,
the music of the days of my life.
Sounds of laughter, cries in the night,
the wind among the willows and the song
of birds that sit upon the garden fence.
My children's voices, a clap of thunder,
the sound of rain upon the roof.
Would that I could scribe the notes that
flow through my life, a story told in the
sounds that flow through my mind and
heart. A treasure not of gold or silver,
but priceless, notes that will go on as long as
my life endures. Perhaps to drift away
on the breeze of death, to sing for another
heart, in another time.
