Might As Well Pretend
You have the freedom
to think that you're free
while your mind continues to work you over
by its own glorious instincts
apart from who you think you are,
apart from who you thought you were.
No need to be ashamed,
your drive to believe is part of that same mechanism-
a glorious means
of survival.
We both need to forget
that we're the same...
(and isn't it more fun?)
We might as well pretend.
