Mick Jagger

To say Mick Jagger Lost his swagger Wouldn’t be the truth; But all his zeal Has less appeal Than it had in his youth. His rooster strut And vanished butt Still worked the Garden stage; But just one look Was all it took To see the toll of age. It’s fine to rock Around the clock As long as you still can; But younger folk Would rather croak Than lust for that old man. Is there a time When, past his prime, A rocker packs it in? You’d think he’d know The time to go Is ready for a spin. But folks still cheer This buccaneer, Though weathered he may be; If I could pick, I’d not choose Mick – He’s way too old for me!

Sad but true... this reads like a limerick series. Your variety of rhythms and spot-on rhyming are a delight to read and review. Well done!! Best wishes, Keith

You could say he's worn his face a few times. But I like him. :) Enjoyed your poem though as usual. :)

I have never seen the Rolling Stones live although I did once own one or two of their recordings. I have had poetry published in Aim, Alura, StrangeRoad, Beyond Bree, Jews in Space, Jewish Space, Judaism and elsewhere. Enjoyable poem! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Lol, oh Ilene, you are too funny! I like "he's way too old for me". He is still strutting, isn't he? Love it.

All of those rockers who spearheaded the British Invasion of the sixties are either too old or dead. Two or three later generations have come since and are making waves on this side of the pond. Good interesting write about Monsieur Jagger.
