Mesmerized By Silence

smoke curls, dividing us into lonely sentries by the fire, as we watch the embers die, in silence black words drifting upwards from the ashes, cast shadows on the moon stinging the eyes of the night with despair

What you have written here is so vivid for me, and I can't help but imagine that I, too would be mesmerized if I witness this--I find this to be wonderfully written, as you do best... I like how this can be a literal scene and a metaphorical one....funny (in a nice way) how I was just mentioned "comfortable silence" to you today, and then I click on your name and see a poem by you on silence.... Happy Halloween dear Carrie!
