Merman
There was a splash in the river
Coulda been a number of things
Like to think it was a mermaid
Spying on me
Building up the nerve
Before she persuades me
To follow her to the sea
We could make humaids
Or mermans
They could be scholars
And amphibious
She’s so shy
If she only knew how persuadable I am
Patience
I wonder if she followed me here
If our paths had crossed before
Now she wants to lead me back
To teach me to breathe under underwater
I’ll be sleeping soon
I’ll meet her there
And we’ll see where the current ends
If it ever does
