Louisiana Porch

The air blows nicely through my Louisiana porch I could sit for hours and never check the time It’s perfect to watch the sun shine The cows are in the pasture, my dog is just a foot behind Rocking in this old chair takes me to a simple state of mind I don’t mind having company but don’t miss it if it ain't there You can challenge me to a game of poker if you dare Some call me a drunk Some call me mean But I say I'm somewhere in between My old bird dog is the only love I have ever known And there is no one sweeter than she I call her Miss Gracie lea My Louisiana porch is home to me I would not trade my simple life for fame or money For my view of the country is sweeter then honey

Congrats on the feature. I had a bayou friend in the navy. He used to talk about home. I'd tell him about coal country and he'd tell me about Louisiana. Vince

A lovely poem -very soothing to read. The life it describes is most enchanting, indeed. I myself crave for this life, which I know, I can't have. There is a certain inconspicuous gloom behind your poem which could not be hidden from my eyes. Heartiest congratulations on your poem being featured this week. Please correct a typing error in the fifth line from the last. Best wishes. -Mohammad

Is this written in semi-dialect, Lauren? Your organization tells me it must be. Boy, do I love the simplicity of this piece. Congrats on the choice. Love, daver
