Lord Have Mercy

An angel in a Christmas play
Learning about Jesus this way
People have become so earthy
Lord have mercy

Just place an X to blot out Christ
And sell merchandise overpriced
Some have no respect for the clergy
Lord have mercy

Let us once again remember
All the month of December
What Christmas means and be thirsty
For God's mercy

If America doesn't change soon
And come to God_it will be hewn
Burned_ for we are so unworthy
Lord have mercy

Remember the angel Gabriel
Again and teach your children well
God will look and find some worthy
Lord have mercy

Yes, since religion has taken a backseat in our homes, lawlessness has taken its place. We need to teach our children the basis of what it means to be grounded in faith. Love the message contained in this poem, Sara. Congratulations on your win.

Intresting perspective from Ardrea regarding the X. I have not heard that one before. Great poem and important message. Good luck in the contest.

Andrea, said that it is a Greek letter that means something and is used by non-religious to represent Christ or Christmas..Since this is part of religion for me, it does not apply...Sara

I like this one, but about the Xmas, did you know that is not a bad thing really? The X is the cross for Jesus!!
