Lonely Soul

A well-worn path
of one lonely soul,
a solitary journey that
begins to take a toll.

A lonely soul that
was left an empty heart,
on one darkened day
when true love did depart.

A soul left lonesome
to live a painful life,
where a scar remains
like a cut from a knife.

Dark days turn to night
teardrops falling like rain,
no umbrella can shield
perennial tears of pain.

For a lonely lost soul
no comfort can be found,
there is no more love
when no light is around.

What a lovely poem this is Kelly! yet it is so sad; feels as if you're experiencing this in real life. But you can still find a new light to ease the ache and brighten your tomorrows. Congratulations. // paul

I enjoyed reading this Kelley. I am very happy things are better for you now. I think in order to write with depth one has to have experienced some pain or heartbreak in life. A wonderful introspective piece!

Thank you for stopping by to read this poem, Connie. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree with you, to write with depth it has to come from true experience. Otherwise, the words just don't seem real. :)

Kelly Why are you trying to make me sad tonight. Bad girl. LOL Words of sorrow and pain that made my heart break. Loneliness can leave you broken in more ways than one. You will NEVER be lonely with me around. Thanks for the wonderful comment on my I'm A Horsie poem. Yes, I did put it in Chans contest. Hugs

Hi Kelly, nice work, deep and dark to read...I absolutely know the feeling here. This is something I really empathize with. However I kind of pulled myself from that lonely lost feeling, I kept myself from the light out of stubbornness. Kelly, I imagine this is not you... truly Thank you for sharing...Linda

When I read sad poems I really like to feel the emotions in it because I've written a few myself. This piece really touched me Kelly, I felt what you felt.
