Lonely In the Darkness

Lonely in the darkness company kept at home not in the mood for tonight, walking the streets again, familiar haunting Lonely in the darkness My breath forming and flying like hookah smoke it twirls and dissipates leaving my sight, entering void Lonely in the darkness the lamp-lights spotlight fixed on intended places they are lined like a grinning goblin's teeth in rows, licking its chops at my soul. Lonely in the darkness My soul is quivering crying out for anyone anything, familiar place familiar feeling Lonely in the darkness the town a void Darkness, enveloped by the cold fog, as foggy as my mind Intoxicated, but not by drink or drugs, perhaps some are needed, NO, Intoxicated by the thing inside, the Bug the Parasite, the other ME Dr. Jekyell and Mr. Hyde I sometimes feel Lonely in the darkness the only company my cell phone, glance at the time, slowly moving. glance at the friends list all my friends are gone some in other countries others beyond reach others not sharing any insomnia My lonely lifestyle Lonely in the darkness My footsteps, company only pitter patter, echoes fleeing even from My feet, not wanting to be... Lonely in the darkness "What we do in life echoes in eternity" "And like echoes, ends up a little distorted" both statements are true I feel distorted I feel like an echo passing along time and space ALONE Lonely in the darkness My cell phone buzzes A response A friend the only one willing to help willing to listen an ant amongst an empty farm the cars go by police and others the streets yield no- one, nothing, I am the King of Nothing Prince of the Void an Emperor with an empty court, all subjects, all friends gone. The Poet gets this way they say, a moody madness we inherit, from our parents our Collective Unconscious there are times when we are Lonely in the darkness
