Lifeless Eyes of Ted Bundy

Lifeless were the eyes of infamous Ted Bundy No remorse, all emotion had been doused His gaze pierced my soul as I gave testimony He maintained there’d been too much publicity Four coeds attacked in a sorority house Lifeless were the eyes of infamous Ted Bundy This demon had the nerve to make a bogus plea “Move my trial or there’ll be no justice,” he groused His gaze pierced my soul as I gave testimony To explain news coverage in Tallahassee Reporters took the stand, court quiet as a mouse Lifeless were the eyes of infamous Ted Bundy I took the stand shaking, did not want him to see me I was sweating so much, wet stains were on my blouse His gaze pierced my soul as I gave testimony It appeared his conscience was totally guilt-free What kind of excuse could this death machine espouse Lifeless were the eyes of infamous Ted Bundy His gaze pierced my soul as I gave testimony *Entry for Catie’s “Villanelle Me” Contest Note: Serial Killer Ted Bundy successfully convinced the court he could not get a fair trial in Tallahassee because there had been too much pre-trial publicity surrounding his attacks on four Florida State University co-eds in their sorority house. After Tallahassee reporters were required to testify, Bundy’s trial was moved to South Florida. Bundy assaulted and murdered at least 30 young women, and possibly many more, in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Florida between 1974 and 1978. After more than a decade of denials he confessed to 30 homicides, but the true total remains unknown.

wow thanks you for the info, Carolyn. Did you really give testimony? That must have been tense to say the least. Imagine complaining of wanting justice and a fair trial after what he did ...justice? Fair?" Sheesh! You made great use out of this villanelle to bring it all to better light. So your poem was poetic, a win and educational..Congratulations .. lemme see I shall also confer upon you from my storehouse of treasures ... a gold star and lemme see... yes...three "atta girls"!

oh, my gosh, Carolyn.WEre you part of the trial? Or are you just putting yourself in the shoes of one of those women who testified? In any event, this is a really unique and powerful entry. Excellent idea for a villanelle.

Real Charmer, that guy huh? What a different fellow. This one seems to be a personal account. Interesting. I am fascinated by these creeps. I study quite a bit on Serial Killers. Donald Harvey, The Angel of Death lived near me in Cincinnati and killed somewhere between 40-87 ppl in hospitals. Later, when I lived in Orlando, I was near Aileen Wuornos our First Lady of Serial. They follow me. lol. God, I hope not.

I wonder how Bundy managed to elude authorities for so long. It must have been frightening to see him in that courtroom. Good luck in the contest. Best to you, Diane

Very powerful write, Carolyn. Wow, you really had to meet this awful man? Scary. I wish they would bring back the death penalty in this country, but I doubt if they ever will. I'm really struggling with this form - you make it look so easy! I had to laugh at your Pope comments LOL. Hope all went well today, love.

Yes, Jack. This is true. I tried not to look at Bundy while on the witness stand, but could feel his stare piercing through me.

Though your write here of course is, highest in quality my dear dear freind,; just when I start to feel the horror ease, from my brother being killed by the serial killers Charles Ng and Leonard Lakes, up comes another reminder that Satan laughs again at me and Jehovah ! There is a book out called, "To die for",My brothers picture is in there, among the other souls who passed at their hands, His name is Clifford by the way, a handsome soul he was. Have a pleasant night Carolyn...much love, james

Excellent entry for the contest, and exceptionally written as per normal. I love praising your poetry Carolyn, why? because it's of the highest quality, as are others on this wonderful community. ( As for Bundy and many others who have deemed it their right to take a life, they are obliged to give theirs, if they are man or woman enough ) Good luck with this piece......:) smiles 4u
