Liberty and Freedom

I kiss you good-bye over and over Clinging to you tears staining the well worn in uniform, My chest is heavy but my heart weighs more As we part ways with one last kiss. Good-Bye my love carry my heart with you As you fight for our Liberty and Freedom. Sleepless nights and tear soaked pillows Hoping for a peaceful night, Restless child sad and confused Not quite old enough to know, Daddy is off fighting for our Liberty and Freedom. Worried mothers watching the news Lonely wives praying for the Marines in Blues to pass by Not to knock on my door. It is the worst news we can receive, Your Marine died fighting for our Liberty and Freedom.

Heartfelt poem. Blessings to the military and their families for all the sacrifices they make to keep us free. The emotion comes through your words. Best wishes in the contest. Thank you for your kind comments. Karen

You capture well the "heaviness" and pain in a woman's heart as he bids her husband farewell and then waits...hoping not to receive news from military messengers. Having a child at home who doesn't understand the heartache makes your beautifully written poem even more intense. Excellent poem, Ashley. I hope you are not one of the women waiting at home. Best wishes, Carolyn
