Learning To Fly
She spread her gigantic wings
caught a breath of
warm air
and took off into the azure heights in wild abandon
free from the teathers
that held her
captive as she watched while the others freed themselves...
it was her turn to fly
swiftly and truly
joyously
as she dipped and soared within her newly found freedom
no uncertaintly
as she climbed higher and higher still
until the humans below
seemed like tiny specks
dithering to and fro...
and while she flew
she realized she was not alone
all along there had been another presence surrounding her
just in case
and in that presence
she was comforted
and held in rapt
wonderment.
