It's Mother's Day
~*~
And I am coming to see you, Mom
It will take me half the day, by bus
But, I got up early, washed my hair with lemons
Like you used to do for me
I am wearing a real pretty dress
And holding a bouquet of pink flowers
Remember, when I brought you wilted dandelions
Yet, you loved them still
Can we just talk about things
About our journey, heartbreaks and many joys
I think of you every single day, Mom
You are my mother and my friend
I have a long bus ride home before dark
And it is starting to rain and get cold
It is never easy to turn and walk away
But, all I can do is leave a tear
Now, rest in peace, dear Mom
I'll be back next year
