It's a Wilderness

It’s a wilderness we live in, though it may look lush and green; It’s a wilderness we life in; life is not all that it seems. There’s a wilderness of pleasure and it may last for awhile, But it soon can turn to sorrow and not make us want to smile. There’s the wilderness of money—my, how that attracts us so! But the money soon can fail us; then where else can we there go? There’s the wilderness of fortune, popularity, and fame, But a name that may grow famous without God will lead to shame. There’s the wilderness we live in! Stepping back to see it all Shows so many awful places into which a soul can fall. So as we face now life’s great challenge and its wildernesses, too, There is only one sure answer and one thing that we should do: Let the Lord lead through the trappings of the wilderness of sin And rely on His Holy Spirit who now dwells with you within. He will help you make decisions in your wilderness today That will build your life and spirit and to help you not to stray.
