It Sticks

I turned away so fearfully
Blinded with a thousand blinking eyes
There was no escape
From the imminent fraud
I am new to this sort of pain
A feeling of stupidity and unearthly shame
I wish I could leave it all behind
To remove the blackness from my mind
But it sticks in the aftermath of sheer mistake
All confidence and trust was theirs to take
And the sickness spreads deeply
Never quite leaving completely

I think one of the reasons poets can actually be more normal is that they release their emotions like this instead of locking them in, and we a better for it--though others might read and think otherwise, but then not allow us into their minds---hmmmm
