It Should Be Every Day
I don’t spell my name with a “Mc” or an “O”,
but I just would like all of you to know,
that the green in me is something permanent.
The Irish in me is nearly one hundred percent.
My ancestors came over from the Emerald Isle.
They lived over here for quite a while.
My folks were hard-drinking and tough, but not mean.
They were always proud of the wearing of the green.
The family is just as happy and proud today.
To us, St. Patrick’s Day is every day.
